Overview

The IT Project Manager reports to the Director of the Project Management Office for Technology ensuring successful execution of multiple assigned projects of varying size and complexity, in accordance with professional project management standards.

 

This role requires excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to work with users at all levels of the organization, to achieve project success. Excellent working knowledge of and the ability to navigate IT systems at a technical level is required.  

Responsibilities

The IT Project Manager will be accountable for all project related activities and deliverables, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Manage projects with increasing independence, conferring as needed for guidance, to continue to strengthen and improve formal project management skills
  • Collaborate with project teams to create well thought out project plans and roadmaps
  • Collaborate with administration, functional managers, and Subject Matter Experts to gather business and technical requirements and move projects forward
  • Utilize the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK) professional standards to develop project charters and plans, as well as manage the execution, monitoring, control and closing of IT projects
  • Create and manage communications plans, including clear and specific end user messaging with measurable results
  • Develop risk register, issue log and manage risk/issue analysis, prioritization and mitigation
  • Create and monitor project schedule
  • Create and distribute clear project meeting notes
  • Capture and deliver lessons learned results for effective future project management maturation
  • Utilize Project and Portfolio Management software for plans and project asset management including charters, RACIs, diagrams, surveys, change requests, and provide formal and ad-hoc reports of project status as needed to the administration as well as project teams
  • Appropriately escalate all issues of concern by communicating with project sponsor and Director of the PMO for Technology
  • Transition projects from PMO management to operational status through transparent processes
  • Use project management software as required
  • Enthusiastically participate in the PMO’s process improvement to continually deliver value to IT projects
  • Work closely with other PMs and BA on creative problem solving around dependencies and conflicting priorities

Qualifications

Education/Preparation/Certification

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Project management certification or willingness to attain CAPM and/or PMP certification
  • Higher Education IT experience preferred

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

  • Foundational understanding and knowledge of IT infrastructures and architectures, including server, network, identity management, IT security, and software development
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work well with others in a team, to manage and resolve conflicts, and to accomplish goals on time without obstructions
  • Excellent time management skills as well as attention to detail
  • High level of mastery using Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and other software tools

Maximum Salary

USD $65,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $52,000.00/Yr.
