As a Web Writer and Content Strategist at Touro, you'll be responsible for the static page content of our websites, developing content strategies, creating original web content, and optimizing existing content to enhance user engagement and experience. You will collaborate with a wide variety of key stakeholders across the University, working with the different schools on the needs for their website(s).


  • Content creation, and content audits and optimization: Write and edit SEO-friendly content for our website, optimizing for user experience (UX), including accuracy, readability, search engine optimization and appropriateness for target audience. (Note on “content”: while you can contribute to stories and events, those are not your primary responsibilities. Your primary responsibility is the ‘static’ content – about, academic programs, admissions, etc.)
  • Work closely with various stakeholders to determine content needs.
  • Assess, catalog, and organize website content based on navigational flow models and high-level navigation standards.
  • Work with the team to ensure consistency and ADA compliance.
  • Use tools such as analytics (Google, Siteimprove), heat maps, keyword relevancy tools, web quality assurance software, search engine optimization, and user data to make recommendations on new content development, promotion, optimization, improvement, and which content we might want to sunset.
  • Research and stay up to date on competitors, content trends and consumer behavior.


You’re a great writer, passionate about web content, and understand user journeys and how content should be organized on a website. You can distill the message clearly, drill down to find what really sets each school apart, and then articulate it well to engage our audience. You listen to understand the client and the challenges they face, and follow up with the right questions to identify the problem that needs to be solved. You can find the solution that fits with best practices and meets the needs of the client without sacrificing the end-user experience. You’re creative, detail-oriented, and value consistency and quality.


You have/can:

  • Writing and editing skills: expertise at creating compelling web content, which include (re)organizing and editing existing materials for clarity or relevance.
  • Analytical skills: capacity to understand our audience through analytics, and use data to shape content, edit, and organize.
  • Ability to work with team members and collaborate.
  • Work independently, communicating what you need to meet your responsibilities.
  • Ability to multi-task and juggle the influx of small projects alongside the bigger projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Strategic thinking: Good conceptual skills, strategic planning and execution.
  • Understanding of UX design principles.
  • Understanding of basic Search Engine Optimization.
  • Familiarity with accessibility best practices on mobile devices and desktop platforms.

Education/ Experience

  • 2-5 years of demonstrated experience in web writing & content strategy.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications, English, Marketing, Content Strategy, UX design or similar discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Our team is hybrid, based in NYC, but remote candidates in the US will be considered.

Maximum Salary

USD $80,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $64,000.00/Yr.
