Overview

As a Social Media Coordinator at Touro University, your primary responsibility will be to manage individual school Instagram accounts. This includes creating, implementing, and managing the social media strategy for the specified accounts, and communicating and coordinating with schools. This position plays an important role in getting Touro’s message and brand out to our target audience. The Instagram accounts help with general SEO for our web presence, and we use the IG feed to help with dynamic content for the website. While it’s housed in the web department, this role works closely with the Communications department and the individuals there that manage Touro’s main social channels, as well as the schools represented.

Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include:

  • Communication and coordination with schools (faculty, staff, and students)
  • Develop a strategy for each account.
  • Maintain a content calendar for each Instagram account.
  • Create and curate social media content that engages the target audience, including students, alumni, faculty, and staff. Inclusive of posts, reels, stories, highlights, etc.
  • Monitor messages, comments, inquiries, to make sure we’re responding and the appropriate people are following up.
  • Develop new contacts and engage with existing contacts (students and staff) for continued content and knowledge of what’s happening on campus.
  • Engage with students and alumni, liking, commenting, reposting as necessary and appropriate.
  • Monitor social media trends and identify opportunities to increase our reach, followers, and influence.
  • Use social media analytics tools to track and measure the success of social media campaigns and report findings to the marketing team.
  • Video reels creation

This position has room for growth, including more handles, other platforms, and paid campaigns.

Qualifications

Additionally, we’re looking for someone who is/has:

  • Good communicator. You’re adept at reaching out to schools and keep in contact with them to determine what is going on and when you should be on campus to get material.
  • Organized and plan ahead. You can develop a calendar of timely content with a bank of evergreen content, thinking ahead to slower times, and flexible during busier times, adjusting the calendar as needed.
  • Good juggler. You can juggle between the different accounts, schools, programs.
  • Excellent video production/editing skills
  • Great visual eye and photography skills
  • Comfortable with/willing to learn social posting management and analytics tools like Sprout Social.
