Overview

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support for the Senior Citizen Legal Program. The position is funded through a grant with the Suffolk County Office for the Aging.

Responsibilities

Provide administrative support for the Senior Citizens Legal Project, including but not limited to the following:

  • General office work including: answering telephones, filing, data entry/case management, scanning, etc.
  • Conduct phone intakes/screening of clients.
  • Responsible for assisting with statistical case reports.
  • Must maintain office records.
  • Schedule appointments for clients.
  • Conduct intakes of potential clients and enter all matters into CLIO (files system).
  • Assist attorneys with drafting legal documents and client letters.
  • Send case closing letters to clients for Senior Citizens Legal Program.
  • Assist Externship students.
  • Applicant must be a capable, efficient, well-organized individual willing to grow with the position.
  • Coordinate with team members.
  • Assist with clinic students.
  • Meet and greet clients.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.

Qualifications

Education/ Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience in assisting in the administration of an office.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Well organized
  • Able to prioritize tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook

Physical Demands 

  • Extensive Use of Computers
  • Excessive sitting and standing
  • Ability to lift 5 lbs.

Maximum Salary

USD $45,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $36,000.00/Yr.
