Overview

The Instructional and IT Clinical Support Associate position reports to the Assistant Executive Dean in New Mexico in the new Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) New Mexico with many opportunities for professional growth in the long-term. This position administers the official Touro learning management system (LMS), provides support and training to faculty and students on various Touro academic software and applications, supports the academic assessment processes, and assists in the support of the clinical information system working with the Assistant Director of Clinical Information System, and participates in the continuous evaluation and improvement of student teaching and learning through research and consultation with various campus stakeholders. This position requires the ability to anticipate and address the needs of employees and students in a fast-paced academic and clinical environment of TCDM and the Dental Clinic in New Mexico.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:·

  1. Provides direction and support to faculty, academic administrators, and others involved in the design, development, and evaluation of instructional programs, learning, and academic services.
  2. Implement TCDM’s academic assessment program while working closely with the Director of Outcomes Assessment.
  3. Act as a Canvas LMS administrator for the TCDM in New Mexico to provide LMS administrative support to faculty and students, including responding to helpdesk tickets.Work closely with the Canvas administrator at TCDM in New York to ensure that course content and access is unified across both schools.
  4. Work with faculty to advance their LMS understanding and effective incorporation of video, academic applications, and specific dental technology in traditional and online classrooms at TCDM.
  5. Provide technical support and assists faculty with creation of multimedia curriculum material for online courses and workshops.
  6. Promote educational innovation for improvement of student learning.
  7. Support accreditation efforts in documenting student achievement and continuous program improvement.
  8. Support the testing and examination process through aiding faculty in setting up and managing written, practical and competency assessments as well as posting of grades.
  9. Provide backup for the electronic health record and clinical scheduling system assisting the Assistant Director of Clinical Systems in New Mexico.
  10. Provide AV support for the TCDM, including the following areas:
    • Assist in the oversite of the recording, storage and distribution of dental school lectures.
    • Work closely with the Touro IT team to provide video recordings to students immediately after they’re recorded.
  11. Assist as needed with Touro ITS to manage and support the dental school use of Active Directory.
  12. Perform other tasks and duties as may be assigned by employee’s supervisor(s) in support of Assessment, Instructional Design/LMS or AV initiatives.

Qualifications

Education/ Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design / Technology, Education Technology, related computer sciences field is required.
  • 2 to 3 years' experience of eLearning teaching and/or training
  • Familiarity with higher education environment preferred
  • Experience in development and application of assessment and evaluation methods in a higher education setting is highly desirable, but any strategic planning, student learning outcomes assessment, academic program development, faculty development, and other related experiences will be considered.
  • Significant experience in regional accreditation requirements and processes is preferred.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
  • Attention to detail.
  • A demonstrated ability to use the instructional design process, major models/best practices, and ability to grasp technical and non-technical content
  • Ability to work well with others and to communicate ideas clearly orally and in writing
  • Quickly adapt new computer technologies as they become available, and keep pace with changing educational and training needs
  • Ability to maintain calm under pressure
  • Ability to meet deadlines on an ongoing basis
  • Experience in delivering technical training to non-technical end-users
  • Experience in in-person and remote training for individuals as well as large groups
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access) and statistical software applications is required.
  • Proficiency in Canvas Learning Management System
  • Proficiency in Zoom and other video conferencing software
  • Ability to quickly learn and become an expert in new software and applications; train others on how to use these new applications and software in academic and clinical setting.
