Overview

Touro University is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Payroll Manager to support the Payroll Manager in overseeing multi-state processing for faculty, staff and student employees. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll administration across multiple states, maintaining compliance with federal, state, and university regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience with multi-state payroll systems, and the ability to work collaboratively in a higher education environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing the end-to end payroll process ,ensuring timely and accurate payments across multiple states.
  • Supervise payroll staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient operations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll tax regulations across various jurisdictions.
  • Oversee payroll tax filings ,unemployment insurance reporting and other compliance-related tasks for multiple states.
  • Assist in reviewing and processing payroll adjustments, garnishments and tax withholdings.
  • Maintain payroll records, reports, and reconciliations in accordance with auditing standards
  • Support payroll audits and ensure accuracy in financial reporting
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance and IT teams to optimize payroll processes and resolve payroll-related issues.
  • Assist in implementing payroll software updates and process improvements.
  • Address payroll inquires from employees, providing excellent customer service.
  • Stay current on payroll regulations, state -specific tax laws, and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.

Qualifications

Education/ Experience

  • Bachelor of Science preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of payroll experience with multi-state payroll processing.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilties

  • Proficiency in payroll software(e.g.. Workday, ADP, People Soft) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Strong Knowledge of multi-state payroll tax laws, federal and state labor laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with payroll tax fillings and reporting in multiple states.
  • Excellent analytical, problem -solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Travel

  • Be able to work 2 to 3 days in the office.

Maximum Salary

USD $73,542.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $58,834.00/Yr.
