Overview

The Internship Supervisor is responsible for instruction, course preparation, developing instructional materials, grading and assessment, and professional responsibilities for the internship course/s as a member of the Industrial Organizational Psychology (IOP) program's instructional team. The Internship Supervisor coordinates internship experience for IOP program at Touro University and serves as the central point of contact to secure internships for IOP program students. Responsibilities include working with the Program Director to coordinate placements, sites, and supervision, working with site administrators, and internship personnel to identify and maintain successful internship experiences. The position requires extensive local travel to various sites. Work is performed under minimal supervision and evaluation is based on acceptable completion of assigned duties.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Teach and supervise students enrolled in the PSGN 740 Internship course
  • Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
  • Managing students and building connections with local businesses to complete IOP projects for.
  • Be prompt and accurate in the recording and reporting of student data.
  • Develop professional contacts with colleagues and local/global businesses.
  • Meet with new IOP students within the first month of courses to introduce them to the internship experience, set expectations, and provide resources.
  • Work with students to secure all professional internship experience placements.
  • Coordinate placements, sites, and supervision, working with site administrators and internship personnel.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Master’s degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, or Human Resources required, doctoral degree preferred 
  • Thorough knowledge of higher education processes
  • Experience and expertise in industrial-organizational psychology and organizational processes
  • Administrative experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrated proficiency in communication (written and verbal) required
  • Familiarity in online learning platforms including Banner, Canvas, Blackboard, & Adobe Connect required
  • Overall business acumen, ethical decision making and relationship management skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to develop positive and cooperative relationships with students, faculty and colleagues required
  • Ability to solve complex problems and meet deadlines required
  • Exceptional analytical, problem solving skills, collaboration and matrix management skills required
  • Ability to take initiative; strong organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills required
  • Ability to prioritize workload and a demonstrated ability to work with multiple and varied constituencies required
  • Must be able to work simultaneously on several high-priority tasks in a multi-tasking environment required
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, trouble shoot and think creatively required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, & Outlook required

Travel

  • Local travel to other campuses and businesses
  • This will be a hybrid position with most of the time spent visiting businesses and campuses within the tri-state area

Maximum Salary

USD $36,047.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $28,837.00/Yr.
