Overview

The Assistant Director of Career Services serves as the primary administrator of career services, technology systems, and provides leadership and assistance in web-based technology, data collection, management, and reporting. This role offers individual career counseling, internship, and job-search advising to students and alumni, develops and presents workshops, and develops positive relationships with students, employers, faculty, staff, alumni, and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with local employers through direct contacts and visits
  • Identify internship placements for computer science, accounting and business and science students
  • Schedule in-person or zoom meetings with every entering student during the Fall and Spring semesters
  • Schedule in-person or zoom meetings with every senior student
  • Identify employment opportunities for graduating students
  • Increase student utilization of Career Services resources by Assisting students in clarifying career goals and helping them develop and refine resume writing, interviewing, LinkedIn and job-search skills.
  • Prepare LAS students for Career Fairs and other Career Events.
  • Partner with faculty to identify student needs for job and internship opportunities
  • Update LAS Career Services Webpages and assist with the updating of existing marketing materials and/or development of new materials.
  • Collect LAS and Machon 1st Destination data (minimum 65% knowledge rate)
  • Present at orientation and new student recruitment events.
  • Represent LAS and Touro at business expositions and events in order to identify new job and internship opportunities
  • Represent the University and career services at specified regional professional association conferences and professional development workshops
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in career development and/or job search counseling required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Experience with database management and career services-related software including Handshake.
  • Strong student advocacy with proven ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Excellent project follow-through ability.
  • Positive attitude and team-building skills focused on student interaction/relationships.
  • Analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the liberal arts.

Travel

  • Travel throughout the Tri-state and out of state

Working Conditions

  • Evening and weekend attendance at college functions as required.

Maximum Salary

USD $100,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $78,400.00/Yr.
