Overview

The Medical Simulation Technician will support the operations of the Medical Simulation Lab by setting up, maintaining, and operating simulation equipment. This role is essential in ensuring that simulation-based training sessions run smoothly and effectively, providing realistic and immersive learning experience for healthcare students and professionals. The Simulation Technician will work under the direction of the Simulation Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Simulation Setup and Operation:
    • Prepare and set up simulation equipment, including manikins, task trainers, and audiovisual systems, according to the requirements of each simulation scenario.
    • Operate simulation software and hardware during training sessions to ensure realistic and accurate simulation experiences.
    • Assist instructors and facilitators in running simulation scenarios, including controlling manikins and providing technical support.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
    • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of simulation equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
    • Conduct regular inspections and testing of equipment to identify and address any issues promptly.
    • Coordinate with vendors for repairs and technical support as needed.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Maintain an inventory of simulation equipment, supplies, and consumables.
    • Order and restock supplies as needed to ensure the lab is adequately equipped for training sessions.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of simulation sessions, equipment usage, and maintenance activities.
    • Prepare reports on simulation activities and outcomes as required.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or technical support role preferred.
  • Experience with medical simulation equipment and software is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and maintain complex equipment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of faculty, staff, and students.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift and move simulation equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during simulation sessions.
