Overview

The APA accredited PsyD Program in Clinical Psychology, Health Emphasis, within the School of Health Sciences of Touro University, invites applications for a full-time Associate Program Director and Professor to join a growing and energetic program. The position is effective January 1, 2027.

The Associate Program Director will provide academic and administrative leadership within the PsyD Program while maintaining an active faculty role in teaching, student advising and mentoring, research, and University service. The Touro University PsyD Program in Clinical Psychology has a health emphasis and combines a strong focus on evidence-based clinical practice in both traditional and integrative health care settings with a commitment to the idea that research should inform practice and practice should inform research.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to support our PsyD program through:

  • Teaching two doctoral courses per semester in both Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Engaging in doctoral student advising and mentoring.
  • Leading a research lab that allows for developing an independent and ongoing line of research (evidence of potential to secure extramural funding strongly preferred) and supervising and mentoring doctoral dissertations.
  • Collaborating with other programs and schools within Touro University (including the potential for a joint appointment with Touro University's New York Medical College).
  • Service to Touro University.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Candidates must have a PhD or PsyD degree in Clinical Psychology (or Combined Clinical and School Psychology) from an APA accredited program.
  • A minimum of 7 years of teaching experience and significant research history.
  • Clinical and research experiences appropriate for faculty in a clinical psychology doctoral program (specialty open).
  • Experience in mentoring doctoral dissertations.
  • Experience in administration of doctoral student clinical training.
  • Experience in APA accreditation requirements and process.
  • Strong and consistent peer reviewed publications appropriate for rank (preference is for a research line consistent with a specialty area of clinical psychology).

  • Demonstrated ongoing engagement and contributions to the professional field through scholarly, clinical, or professional activities.
  • Clear record of leadership at the departmental and/or program level.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving skills, collaboration and matrix management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop positive and cooperative relationships with students, faculty and colleagues.
  • Competence and/or experience in technology as an educational tool (e.g. CANVAS).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in communication (written and verbal).
  • A high degree of interpersonal competency including professionalism, diplomacy, judgement and discretion.
  • A commitment to work in multicultural and urban education settings.
  • Knowledge of higher education processes.
  • Ability to effectively manage and organize daily tasks independently and with a team while balancing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to solve complex problems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word Excel Power Point Outlook.

Certifications/Licensures

  • Candidates must be licensed or license-eligible in the State of New York.

Travel

  • Minimal travel (e.g., conference, professional meetings) as needed.

Working Conditions

  • Regular use of computers, telephones, and other standard teaching equipment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and standing, with occasional walking, bending, and reaching.

Maximum Salary

USD $140,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $112,000.00/Yr.
