Overview

MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Touro University School of Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time position as Program Director and Associate (or higher) Professor. Position is effective July 1, 2023 (pending budget approval). The Program Director and Associate Professor the master’s program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is expected to support our growing student population through teaching, advising, and collaborating on research initiatives and work in collaboration with other programs within the department. Candidates must have a doctoral degree in counseling or a related field that qualifies the candidate to be considered CACREP Core Faculty. Other requirements include a record of scholarly productivity; evidence of effective teaching at the graduate level; experience conducting or fostering interdisciplinary research/education; and experience mentoring students and faculty. Subject to the terms of your Appointment Letter, this role is expected to teach a reduced course load of 4-courses per academic year, which constitutes a two-course reduction.

Responsibilities

The faculty member will be expected to direct the program assist in recruitment of students conduct research and publish in scholarly journals. Additional Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Teach full time graduate-level Mental Health Counseling courses; advise graduate students.
  • Conduct and maintain program assessment data and activities.
  • Manage program curriculum, course scheduling, and faculty assignments.
  • Work with Chair and Administrative Director on budget and annual program assessment.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with collaborating agencies and Touro programs.
  • Serve on department, School of Health Sciences, and University committees.
  • Develop training and/or research grant proposals; and demonstrate leadership in the field.
  • Engage in research/scholarly activity at a level appropriate to rank.
  • Supervise students, and/or perform other assignments as approved by the Chair.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, provide service to the program, the Department of Behavioral Sciences, and the Touro community.
  • Maintain presence on campus.

Qualifications

Education, Preparation, and Training

  •  Doctoral degree in Counseling or Counselor Education from a regionally accredited school (or a doctorate that qualified applicant to be CACREP Core Faculty at a previous institution).
  • Graduation from a CACREP-accredited program preferred.
  • Licensed (or New York State license eligible) as a Mental Health Counselor.
  • Experience teaching graduate-level Mental Health Counseling Courses.
  • Have history of, or evidence of promise, in scholarship appropriate for the discipline.
  • University teaching and supervisory experience.

  • Internet journal library and Google Scholar search experience

Maximum Salary

USD $125,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $100,000.00/Yr.
