Procurement Specialist

Solicit, negotiate, and award orders for a broad array of equipment and services. Work with end users to define specifications and obtain best prices to meet requirements. Accomplish purchasing and the organization's mission by completing related tasks as needed.

• Processes purchase requisitions from the user departments and individuals of Touro University.
• Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services.
• Reviews and processes purchase requisitions.
• Negotiates with vendors and obtain product or service information such as price availability and delivery schedule.
• Selects products for purchase.
• Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.
• Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.
• Reviews bid proposals and negotiates with vendors within budgetary limitations and scope of the request form.
• Maintains manual and computerized procurement records.
• Awards purchase orders to vendors.
• Communicates with the requesting departments to ensure that all proper documentation is received such as independent contractor agreement, W-9 forms, and check request.
• Handles all customer service issues form the requesting departments.

Education/ Experience

• Bachelor of Science required

• Knowledge of the procurement field
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Determines priorities and adheres to deadlines
• Knowledge of Banner a plus
• Focused, hard-working in a high volume environment
