Overview

The Academic Pharmacy Fellowship position at Touro College of Pharmacy in New York is a 12-month program designed to prepare the pharmacy professional (interested in a career in academic pharmacy and seeking experience in pharmacy education). The Academic Fellow will work with the Fellowship Director (and faculty) to gain experience teaching in various classroom settings, precepting APPE students, and coordinating courses. In addition to participating in scholarships and academic research projects, the fellow will also obtain opportunities for clinical practice at (at least) two practice sites. The fellow will also work with various academic administration units, to help design curricula, and assess students. In the process, the fellow will recieve a teaching and leadership certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Fellowship Director, the Offices of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Assessment, College Committees, and Student Organizations.
  • Conduct scholarship work and academic research project.
  • Coordinate and teach courses.
  • Clinical practice (2 hospital rotations + 1 ambulatory care rotation).
  • Teaching skills (didactic lecture + skills lab recitations + precept students on rotations).
  • Review/present journal articles.

Qualifications

Education/ Experience

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy
  • Licensure or eligible for licensure in the State of New York
  • Individuals who have completed a PGY1 pharmacy residency (or a PGY-2 specialty residency) and are interested in pursuing a career in academia are highly encouraged to apply. Applicants without a PGY-1 residency will be interviewed based on their academic performance/experience.

Maximum Salary

USD $55,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $44,000.00/Yr.
