Overview

An adjunct in anatomy or basic sciences is responsible to teach is responsible to teach in the lecture and/or laboratory setting. Adjuncts are assigned to provide instruction in a portion of the curriculum for which they have suitable training and experience.

 

Responsibilities

The following outlines the basic responsibilities of this position. Other duties are to be assigned as necessary.

  • Prepare and deliver lectures or laboratory lessons on assigned topics
  • Participate in assessment of student performance through appropriate examination methods as assigned
  • Promote an appropriate atmosphere for student education and be responsive to students' needs
  • Serve on TouroCOM committees as assigned.
  • Provide reports, budgetary information, and other documents as requested by department chairs, directors, and deans
  • Advise and mentor students
  • Participate in medical student admission interviews

Qualifications

Education, Preparation, and Training

  • Graduate level degree (Master’s or Doctoral) in any of the topics mentioned in the job responsibilities section.

 

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

  • Proficient in the following areas: Relevant content expertise, research techniques, instructional design, delivery and assessment, course management, psychometrics/statistics, learning theory, public speaking, effective communication, conflict management.

 

Computer Skills

  • Basic computer skills supporting the proficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Excel, as well as software used to prepare and administer written exams electronically
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems.
