The Director of the Behavioral Tract reports to the Program Chairpersons, and the Vice President of PA Operations and Program Development, and works closely with the Academic Coordinators. They are responsible for coordinating and teaching the Psychiatry and Behavioral Health curriculum with the support of the clinical faculty members and the behavioral health administrative assistants. The Director of the Behavioral Health Track will seek new opportunities to expand the Behavioral Health Tract across Touro PA campuses as Directed by the Vice President of PA Operations.


  • Responsibilities include but not are not limited to:
  • Instruction
    • Course Coordinator/Instructor PAMN 605- Psychiatry and Behavioral Health
    • PAMN 608 Behavioral Health Advanced Seminar I
    • PAMN 609 Behavioral Health Advanced Seminar II
    • Organize and teach Psychiatry and Behavioral Health coursework and SBIRT training courses for faculty and students
    • Case develop SBIRT Objective Structured Clinical Exams (OSCE)
    • Coordination of groups and role-play assignments for SBIRT/Motivational Interviewing (MI)
    • Scheduling of behavioral health lectures and coordination of Behavioral Health faculty
    • Scheduling clinical experience contact hours with Psychiatry and Behavioral Health course related faculty
    • Monitor Behavioral Health grades and student progression throughout the program related to Behavioral Health Track
    • Identification and evaluation of students requiring remediation in Behavioral Health
    • Evaluating, editing, and updating syllabi, exams, and assessments
    • Evaluating, editing, and updating the learning outcomes objectives and syllabi for the Behavioral Health Track and Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Core Coursework (including SBIRT)
    • Review and editing of the general overview of the course, course description, and methods of evaluation regarding SBIRT training
  • Compiling/collecting appropriate questions consistent with evidence-based best practice and outlined learning outcomes and objectives in concert with the Academic Coordinator that align with syllabi and NCCPA blueprints
  • Reviewing exam questions and item analysis in concert with academic coordinator
  • Developing assessments that demonstrate proficiency in Behavioral Health Advanced Seminar topics
  • Program Development and Liaison between Health Care Facility and Touro University
  • Recruitment of adequate clinical training sites for Behavioral Track clinical experience and Supervised Clinical Practice Experience (SCPEs)
  • Orientation of clinical instructors/preceptors to school policies
  • Assurance of student/school adherence to Health Care Facility stipulations (contractual agreements)
  • Periodic evaluation of the clinical experience offered (including evaluation of student feedback) with constructive feedback to clinical sites and preceptors for Behavioral Health Track core and Elective Behavioral Health Supervised Clinical Practice Experience.
  • Participate in behavioral health track development and improvement processes future program development or grant applications
  • Instruct first year, second, and culminating year students in the following:
    • Provide instruction in area of expertise
    • Advisement - second and culminating year students as related to behavioral health experiences
    • Perform Clinical Site visits as needed
    • Master’s capstone advisor - reviewing and grading master’s capstone
  • Supervisory responsibilities:
    • Analysis of course and instructor evaluations for Behavioral Health Track and Core Psychiatry curriculum and formulating and implementing data driven program modifications to curriculum
    • Orienting Behavioral Health Faculty to the Program and general Behavioral Health curriculum
    • Assignment and supervision of the workload for Behavioral Health Faculty
    • Supervising and evaluating academic progress of physician assistant students in the Behavioral Health Track and in Psychiatry & Behavioral Health coursework
  • Administrative Responsibilities
    • Reporting/verification of grades to Registrar
    • Ensure ARC- PA accreditation standards are met for Behavioral Health Program components
    • Responsibilities for general aspects of the PA Program and the Service to the School of Health Sciences
    • Participating in the admissions process including application review, interview, and serving on the Admissions Committee
    • Serving on the PA Academic Progress Committee
    • Participating in open houses both at the PA program and at other Institutions
    • Participating in the self-study and accreditation process
    • Serving on school-wide committees


Education/ Experience

  • Doctorate degree required (PhD, PsyD, MD, or DO)
  • Teaching/Administrative experience in an educational setting, candidates with knowledge and/or experience working with individuals with behavioral health and substance use disorders.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills, able to summarize and prioritize work product and processes, proactive communication with supervisors and peers to maintain efficiency
  • Requires ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with frequent high levels of urgency or sensitivity
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues in a team environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills are required
  • Timely response to emails (within 24 hours)
  • Ability to appropriately document student advisement sessions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, & Zoom
  • Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, Exxat, and other educational platforms such as Exam Soft.
  • Ability to deliver online course content

Maximum Salary

USD $75,000.00/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $60,000.00/Yr.
